In 2007, Omega celebrated the 50th anniversary of the iconic Speedmaster with the release of a few highly limited watches to acknowledge the special birthday. One of these pieces was the Speedmaster 50th Anniversary Limited Series, which was affectionately dubbed the ‘Patch’ watch; reference 311.30.42.30.01.001. This Speedmaster Moonwatch uses the iconic 1861 Calibre hand-wound movement, but in this instance the 42mm steel case is mated to a sapphire crystal. For the 50th anniversary ‘Patch’ watch, the iconic Seahorse is printed on the dial at 12 o’clock and the Omega logo is finished in a distinctive red shade. Further, the pieces were individually numbered on the case-back and limited-edition certificate, with just 5,957 examples made.
